I am a Registered Psychologist (R.Psych.) with the College of Psychologists of British Columbia. My home-based office is conveniently located in downtown Castlegar, B.C., providing close access to clients in the West Kootenays, including Castlegar, Trail, Rossland, Christina Lake, Grand Forks, Fruitvale, Salmo, Greenwood, Kaslo, Slocan Valley, Nakusp, Nelson and surrounding areas.
I offer psychological services including psychovocational/ psychoeducational and learning disability assessments for adults, teens & children (ages 6-18), as well as psychological/ mental health assessments and individual therapy for adults & teens. In addition to learning disabilities, I provide assessments and individual psychotherapy for a broad range of issues, including depression, anxiety & fears, trauma/PTSD, panic attacks, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), transitional life issues (i.e. bereavement, occupational), chronic pain/illness, stress, anger, relationship issues, and sleep problems. My treatment approach incorporates the use of evidence-based cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and psychodynamic/attachment approaches.
I was born in New Brunswick, where I did my undergraduate degree (B.Sc.) in psychology at Mount Allison University. I earned my Masters and Doctorate degrees in clinical psychology from APA-accredited George Fox University in Oregon in 2004 and 2007, respectively. I am a member of the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA). I opened my private practice 10 years ago, when I moved to British Columbia.
My background includes experience in a variety of roles and settings, with previous work and training experiences at locations such as Northwest Center for Integrative Medicine (Tacoma, WA), Kaiser Permanente Medical Care Program (Los Angeles, CA), Oregon Health & Science University – Family Medicine at Richmond Clinic (Portland, OR), Kaiser Permanente (Clackamas, OR), and Multnomah County Detention Center & Inverness Jail (Portland, OR). Prior to returning to Canada, I served as the Team Psychologist for a CARF-Accredited Interdisciplinary Pain Rehabilitation Program in Washington state, where I provided assessments, individual and group therapy, and teaching, for people with work-related injuries, chronic pain, and accompanying psychological distress.
