PRIVACY & CONFIDENTIALITY:
The law protects the privacy of all communications between a patient and a psychologist. In most situations, I can only release information about your treatment to others if you provide written consent. There are some situations where I am permitted or required by law to disclose information without your consent:
- If there is a substantial and imminent risk that you may seriously harm yourself or another individual, I will take necessary steps to prevent or reduce the risk of harm which may include release of confidential information.
- If I have reason to believe that a child has been, or is likely to be harmed.
- If an adult is being abused and/or neglected and is unable to seek assistance.
- To comply with a court order.
- If you have a medical condition that makes it dangerous to drive, and you continue to drive despite warnings regarding potential danger, I am required by the Motor Vehicle Act to file a report.
- For COVID-19 contact tracing purposes.
